If you've used Sonar earlier, there will be things you will need to
re-learn. As far as I can tell, all the old functionality is still
there, but in some cases finding what you want just takes (me) longer.
There certainly is a thought-out logic to the new UI, but it doesn't
feel all that intuitive to me yet. I haven't been able to spend as
much time with Sonar as I'd liked to, so this may, and probably will,
change.

I guess The Matrix view should be an especially welcome addition for
you. You can store MIDI and audio clips in a two-dimensional matrix,
and trigger them in various ways. So this would probably be what you
referred to as sample pool earlier (Re: thread "new track..looking for
critique") .

It's definitely worth reading the manual (or equivalent), because some
earlier immediate functions have been made less-than-immediate, but
the immediacy may hide between a simple shortcut. As an example the
new Edit filter, see
http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013204. Without
knowing abut the press shift -option this new feature would drive you
mad.

For the $99 I'd say definitely. You do get a lot for that price.

I would also love to hear about other people's X1 experiences.

Cheers,

Kim
