Personally : always found them tacky fakes… not sounding right for me. It's all sampled waves in a cheap way.

In general : some friends had some real fun with (not mad programmers either) BUT beware of faulty units. Latest models built by quasimidi had issues and the post sale service was tremendous so glitches may be still there. The 309 is certainly the model with the most fun packed with buttons that work.
