This sounds close to what my senior manager had to say about Microsoft 
Sharepoint, which is used for the corporate... whatever you do with 
Sharepoint.

"You need to learn to use the program."

I pointed out that we're in the 21st century, and that I had stopped 
wanting to "learn to use" a computer program about 15 years ago.

Audacity I don't know; Sharepoint is reminder that, even with tens of 
thousands of developers, and an impressive portfolio of products, you 
can still produce a pile of rubbish.
