i still stick with my presonus firepod, its your basic preamps/adda/
mixer->firewire box and it just plain works well. my fp+rack setup
is currently in public service in the kammerl at metalab, and gets a fair
bit of use these days .. its a solid bit of gear that sounds, well,
great. i'd like to get a few other bits from the presonus suite, as a
matter of fact ..

for some reason presonus dont get much love, for sure there are
competitive options, but hey .. for me the presonus/linux support is
superlative (like RME+linux, also). the recording tools on linux are
worth a small band investigating a bit of energy in, and using in
their sessions - just get a full 10-channel stream-to-disk project
configured in ardour, and oila: full 10-track session recording.

for me, the fact that presonus has great support with freeBOB is a
bonus (this makes the card extremely nice for linux as you have more
control over the onboard dsp..) but of course i feel that presonus
support on osx and winBlah is pretty solid, too.
