There are many reasons why people might want patch memory (eg in 
live situations), and few not to want it.
I would personally think it very cool, though, to have a synth 
without patch memory. It forces you to make cool sounds, and you 
won't be tempted to spend hours just listening to presets and 
making no music at all. But I would hate menu-editing on such a 
synth.
