So that was the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest, and it 
was dire. Obviously, most of the most dire songs went through, because 
they came from Middle Europe or the Balkans.

Neighbour voting is as old as the ESC, but with so many small countries 
in exactly those areas, the current system doesn't work any longer.

Oh well. It was fun while it lasted, but Western Europe would do well to 
follow Italy's example.
