but that's exactly the secret to subbass: producing on tiny speakers  
that have no bass. it can give surprising amounts of sub.

Later check the mixes on another speaker system. But I have worked on  
my tannoy ellipse 10 and - floating in bass - thought there was enough  
lowend -- when in fact large speakers can give you the wrong impression.

I find it's always to good to have at least two different sets of  
speakers in the studio - for songwriting and mixing use the small  
ones, for jamming and checking use the large ones...;)
