The data is gone, and I figured out why. the drive that was killed
was actually a raid container, but linux didnt see the raid controller
when I formatted it ext3. it only formated one out of the 3 drives
(or something like that) and corrupted the whole container. all the
files that were restored have every other stripe of data missing. I
cant even imagine how to piece this puzzle back together...

Its kind of interesting, really, having all your data gone. In a
sense, Its like being back at the start of everything but with a big
stack of gear. I was planning on getting a new PC after the move, but
now I am not locked into a PC by fact of not having *any* legacy data
to worry about. I have a completely blank slate.

The timing is also interesting, because I also dont have any of my
gear setup. Because of the move next week, All I have opperating is
this laptop, an m-audio controller and a copy of Reason 4. I also
have Traktion on this laptop for the DJ stuff. I am forced into a
zone of limitation that I havnt felt since I started out with just an
Sy85 and an EMAX II sampler.

I feel like I just finished walking the line on a gigantic mobius
strip, and am right back where I started. Ive gained time, and
experience though for the next circle round.

oh well. such is life.
