Hey dude, nice one! Trains = doubleplus good!

I also got a new job a short while ago, and it's almost perfect for me as jobs
go - seeing that I've been trying really hard to avoid having a career or
doing anything corporate.

One day a week, six hours teaching web design and development to second year
Multimedia students at the university which is about 15 minutes walk from my
house.

Very nice place to work indeed, and my boss is the least boss-like boss I have
met in a long time. (Many of our conversations so far have been about bass
guitars and recording albums, as he's also a keen player!)

I got the job through a friend of a friend, who got another job in Switzerland
so had to leave at short notice. Phonecall one day, got the job over a
casual lunchtime chat the next day. They've now offered it to me until at
least June and are making noises about offering it to me permanently.

I'm pretty stoked about it all. Although I haven't been paid yet, once it
starts coming in, it should be just about enough that I can cover our living
expenses with it, so basically won't have to do any other work. Though I am
intending to carry on with a bit of freelancing when the right projects come
along.

The rest of the time: life, music, activism, bread making, vegetable growing
and so on.

I'm not intending to do it forever, but for the next 3 or 4 years would be
ideal, so we can settle down properly, sort the house out a bit and all that
kind of stuff. After that, I think we're going to be leaving Nottingham,
though who knows what the future holds.

So yeah, hooray for jobs that don't suck - especially part time ones that pay
well enough to give you loads of free time to do other stuff!

Cheers,

~Dave
